I have a Wanhao Duplicator i3 V2 which had the Melzi board fail on it within a week and instead of constantly replacing a board I bought a 5 driver smoothieboard. Just having trouble setting up the config file and was wondering if anyone had a good config file that i could use as a reference to see what im doing wrong
I am working on the very same project and unit for that matter. I think it may be a bit overkill, but really not that much more money than good quality RAMPS or similar replacements. I'll let you know if I run into anything and you do same if you don't mind. I am hoping to have it running tonight, so wish me luck.
How did you wind up setting up your Dual Z steppers? That is the one thing that bothers me about the setup, and I have an available driver being E1. Did you just wire them together? I am interested to be sure, as I just don't like the two options I have seen.
I have mine setup now and working. What problem were you experiencing? There are a few wonky things in Smoothieware which you need to be aware of if you havent already run into them. The firmware does not respect endstops by default, and is dissimilar to Repetier and Marlin which you have most likely used before. Wactch yourself while jogging the controls as it will push down through your bed and grind away on X and Y. I can upload my config which is a WIP, but I think I will have it dialed in by the end of the day. Currently its working fine, and simply needs some optimization to get more speed out of it.
I would like to see it as well. I have an MKS Sbase on my delta and I like it more than using Marlin. the firmware was preconfigured and still new to me. I looks like its all Delta stuff and not standard 3d printer stuff. been looking for a guide I can follow, but I'm a bit out of my element.
I have pm'd all three of you with my current config. I would be careful with the direction of the motors only if you try it, as it is entirely possible that they may be reversed on your unit, or in the direction you plugged it in, but other than that I have been printing with it pretty much nonstop. This config is for the edge version by the way. I would grab the latest if you want to try it. Enjoy.
The network config is also unique to my network and should be set back to auto if dhcp is desired.
I am using a reprap discount full graphic display. This may be different in your case as well. I didn't spend a ton of time trying to get the duplicator one going, and for ~$15 I said what the heck and installed the new one.
thank you looking at it now, it may answer why I can't get the Z axis moving, that and my BL Touch are the only things not up and going. I had the probe, so in trying to fix the Z I probably messed it up myself.
Could I bother you for a copy of your i3 config?
I am building an i3 Clone as we "speak" and you could save me a ton of time ( How much does time weigh anyways? ). :)
Thank you for your time.
DevDoc I have it almost working using your config as a template. does your Z more really fast compared to how the machine started with the Melzi board? the way it moves it looks like it will be printing the next layer in the air.
DevDoc… any chance I can get that config file? Finishing up on my original Prusa i3 MK2. having trouble with my paired z-axis steppers, high-pitch and no motion…
